This not well known archaeological site is situated in Thanjanthanna in Balangoda-Kalthota road about 10 Kms away from Rajawaka before (1.3 Kms) turn to famous Kalthota Doowili Ella falls. A broken direction board on your right-hand side - when you travel from Balangoda - directing to a not paved road is what you should look for. There is only about 100m from the main road to the site. The road is in good shape, even a car can manage it easily.

The site is fairly large, about 2-3 acres in size with parapet walls. According to the structure and scattered ruins, it looks like a Buddhist Arama complex with all the buildings needed. Archaeological department has restore some of those, but most of them are still underground.
Pagoda with guard stones Some attempt has made to recover
Some are still underground
There is a small pagoda on an altar. Seems like once it has a roof, but only the foundation around pagoda is there at the moment. There are scattered ruins of many image houses and other buildings which we had no clue.
Archaeological department signboard is available at the site as well as a temporary building which looks like a place where archaeological department workers were residing, but there was no one around the place to get more details about the site.
I will update the post with more details about the site in the future.
